Proclaiming May 21St— 27th, 2017 Emergency Medical Services Week
Whereas, Emergency Medical Services is a vital public service; and
Whereas, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and
recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and
Whereas, the Bangor Fire Department responds to over 7800 emergency medical calls
yearly; and
Whereas, Bangor's Firefighters are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need
24hours a day, seven days a week; and
Whereas, our Paramedics and other EMS support personnel engage in hundreds of
hours of specialized training and continuing education yearly to enhance their life saving
skills; and
Whereas, Bangor Fire Department's EMS preceptor program continually improves the
region's emergency medical education by mentoring countless EMS students yearly; and
Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize the value and accomplishments of all
emergency medical services providers including emergency medical dispatchers and
medical facilities personnel.
Now, Therefore, I, Joseph M. Baldacci, Mayor of the City of Bangor, on behalf of the
City Council, and the citizens of Bangor, do hereby recognize the 2017 Emergency
Medical Services Week and acknowledge the contributions Emergency Medical Services
make in our health, safety, comfort and quality of life.
