ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION "THE LONGEST DAY" IN THE CITY OF BANGOR
WHEREAS, Alzheimer's continues to be a major health concern — with currently over
26,000 people living with the condition in Maine, and more than 5 million
people in the United States, and estimated 44 million worldwide; and
WHEREAS, The global rise of Alzheimer's requires a worldwide effort to increase
communication, education, and united action to stop or deter the number of
Alzheimer's cases; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the Alzheimer's Association recognizes "The Longest Day," a special
day of action each June as part of Alzheimer's Brain Awareness Month, to
honor those who face daily challenges of living with Alzheimer's by
encouraging citizens raise awareness in the fight against Alzheimer's by
participating; and
WHEREAS, Bangor acknowledges the mission of the Alzheimer's Association to help fight
Alzheimer's and is proud to support"The Longest Day" on June 21, 2017.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, , of the City of Bangor, on
behalf of the City Council do hereby proclaim June 21, 2017 to be The Longest Dayand
urge our citizens to take part on this day and acknowledge and encourage all those around
who are affected by Alzheimer's. Visit www.alz.org for more information.
