SUBJECT:
Amendmg Land Development Code —IN9VOhio Street —
C.O. # 00-374
Please be advised that the Planning Board at its regularly scheduled meding of
October 3, 2000 held a public hearing on the above -noted zone change request.
Stephen Polyot, Verizon Coumtmicntions, spoke in favor ofthis proposal. The
zonechmgeisbebgrequest1Walbw Veiwn CA micadonm Imreaponionofthe
parcel m construct a small utility building to service the telecommunications needs of the
neighborhood. Public utility and public service uses are not allowed in the Low Density
Residential District (current dishich, bW are permitted uses in the Rural Residence and
AgricWtme District (proposed district).
No one spoke in opposition.
Several Planing Board Members expressed concern about the need to rezones the
entire parcel mmcommodate a small utility use. Planing O6icd Weber hWicated that
City Staffam presently looking hmo alternative ways of declining with zoning issues
rotating to small utility uses throughout the City. The zone change nximst is consistent
with commit zoning and laM use in the vicinity. With da exception of the abutting
pamel flat is zoned Government and Institutional Dishict, and one panel of High
Density Residential on the other side of Ohio Stred, surrounding parcels on both sides of
Ooze Ohio Street are zoned Rural Residence and Agriculture.
After careful consideration, the Board voted 3 to 2 in favor of a motion to
nwonmend W the City Council that the zone change request contained in C.O. # 00.348
be approved.
