Comew PAR 2071047-106 Dlnclm of Parks & F0Gealim Memorandum To: Finance Committer From: Frank Comeau, Direetar of Parks a Recreation Re: Creative Playground Update Date: June 17.2000 - - - Early this year I was instructed by the Municipal Operations Committee to fast track the replacement of the Creative Playground at Hayford Park. Their intent was to order the new equipment as soon as the new face[ year began remove the existing atrmmre in August, and install the new equipment in September. Requests for proposals went out in early April and were returned by three vendors later that month. Since that time we have been reviewing and comparing the proposals received from the responding reactors. We have also taken road nips in order to inspect several playgrounds purchased from the competing vendors. I was ready to make a recommendation to this committee at your first meeting in July so that the equipment could be ordered and we would remain on the original time- table. At some point during the prevent we became aware of a passible great in the Dunt of $25,000 from the Slate Department of Conservation. With the City Councils approval and the assistance of City Finance, Katherine Weber, we applied for the grant. On June 1, 2000 we received correspondence from the State that oar grant request was one of thirty-seven receiver], and would be reviewed during the onthof July. The letter also noted that An project work %olicimton of bids, signing of contrII expenditure of monies may be Inkinfed and notification of approval is rancened and a project agreement is executer].
