Rem/Subject Purchase of 61-63 Second Street from U.S. Department of Housing and
Urban Development Under the $1 Home Sales to Local Governments

Properties foreclosed by HUD which have been offered to the public for sale for six or mora months and
are not presently, under a sales contract are removed from the market ant offered exclusively to local
governments for plus closing costs. Profitsfrom resale must V to support local housing/community,
developmentinitietives. This Order would authoriupurchase by the City ofthe two unit HUD property
at 61-63 Second Street for $1, and that the property be rehabilitated for reuse underterms approved by the
Cor mmdty and Economic Development Committee.

WHEREAS, properties foreclosed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
which have been offered to the pudic for sale for six or more months and are not presently
under a sales contract are removed from the market and offered exclusively to local
governments for $1 plus closing casts; and
WHEREAS, profits from resale must go to support local housing "community development
Initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the property at 6163 Second Street in Bang" has been foreclosed by the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development and has been offered to the public for sale for
six or more months and is not presently under a sales contract, and
WHEREAS, the property at 6163 Second Street has been removed from the market and offeretl
exclusively to local governments for $1 plus closing costs under the $1 Home Sales to Local
Governments Program; and
WHEREAS, acqulsimm of the property for rehabilitation and reuse conforms to the goals of the
City to improve its neighborhoods;
NOW THEREFORE, BY THE CITY COUNCB.OF THE CRY OF BANGOR, BE IT ORDERED THAT,
to Oty Manager Is hereby authorised to acquire the property located at 61-63 Second Street in
Bangor, for $1 and closing costs, and W take such actions as approved by the Community and
Economic Development Committee to ensure rehabilitation and reuse of the property, and to
dispose of the property under such terms and corMPoans as approved by the Community and
Economic Development Committee, In a farm or forms approved by the City Solidtor or
Assistant City Solicitor.
