Commentary:
1. Each year the City submits an application to HUD for funding under the Continuum of Care Homeless
Aaeistance Grant. As you may recall, we City was awarded $1.06 million last December with new
funding of $254,654, and renewal funding ofapproximately $805,000 for the Shelter Plus Care
Program. The developmentofa Homeless Continuum of Careis a timeconsuming and suffintmeive
process. As with most sound projects of this type, each you a core group of individuals, calling
itself the Bangor Alliance for Healthy Hoaxing Options, performs the majority- of the organivng,
design, coordinating, and writing of the grant This resolve rerugnlzes the work and time that this
group has contributed to the City of Bangor Homeless Continuum of Care, and adds creditability and
recognition to its participation as part of the grant application process.

(TITLE.) Resolve, Recognising the Bangor AlRence for H"Ift Housing Options
Whereas, each year the City of Bangor submits an appEoation to the U.S. Deparhnent of Housing and
Urban Development for funding under the Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance Groot Program;
and
Whereas, the City was awarded $1.06 million in December of 1999, with new funding of $254,654,
and renewed funding of approximately $505,000 for the Shelter Plus Care Program; and
Whereas, Since 199, HUD has awarded $3,339,256 in funds to the City in addition to over
$3,470,000 in fiords leveraged Rom local and Stare agencies for support services, new covsWUiory
rehabilitation, and acquisition of property; and
Whe the developmentofa Homeless Continuum of Care great application is a time consuming,
and staff onerous process that involves a com group of individuals that perform the majority, of the
orgenving,classic, coordinating. and writing of the gond; and
Whereas, this core group, known as the Bangor Alliance for Healthy Housing Options, is recognized
as the locel corny Mat sets as the community catalyst for embracing the availability of decent, safe,
and affordable housing for low-income individuals and families, focusing on planting, community
building, and resource developments;
NOW, THEREFORE, BY THE CRY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, BE IT RESOLVED
