DR -las Item/Subject Resolve - Authorizing Continuation of Negotiations with the County of Penobscot -Former Grants Building, 6 Central Street Reepomible Department: Community 6 Economic Development Commentary, The City Council passed Resolve 99-268 on July 26, 1999 authorizing City staff to enter negotiations with the Penobscot County Comiussioners for the Potential sale o lease of the 6 Central Street to the County for its, and related, uses. The staff was directed to negotiate exclusively with the Penobscot County Camnissi®ere for the sale r lease of the property until the City Council meeting on December 27, 1999. Council Order 00-69 passed on December 27, 2000 gave the County additional time, until March 31, 1999, to perform an Rosslyssiss of the potential uses that may be accommodated at 6 e Central Street and to pursue actions necessary for the County to enter a lease o purchasehagreement with the City. Teanalysis for curt u of the building was Positive. A further extension of time i needed until word use received on state appropriations to accommodate renovations too the building for court . This Resolve would extend the period for negotiations with the County to June30, 2000. During this time, the City may continue to pursue and enter lease agreements for space within the building Department Head Manager's Commence, We continue to work with the County and State officials on the potential u of this building by the courts. At this point, w waiting action on the funding needed for renovations .
