CITY OF BANGOR
Ontal Resolve, Supporting State Referendum Question #6, A $36,700,000 Bond Issue to
Make Improvements to the State's Public Universities, Maine Maritime Academy, and Other
Public Learning Centers.
WHEREAS, Maines voters will go to the polls on November 6, 2001 to cast ballots on six bond
issues on the State referendum ballot; and _
WHEREAS, question 6 will authorize a $36,700,000 bond issue to make improvements to the
State's public universities, the Maitre Maritime Academy, and other public learning I
centers; and
WHEREAS, this bond issue Is Important to the citizens of Maine and students at state FFF
educational institutions of higher learning since it provides funds for projects to
improve classroom facilities, health and physical education complexes, libraries, art
centers, and dormitories at educational institutions in all regions of the state; and
WHEREAS, higher education in Maine and the Bangor region is essential to our quality of life
and current and future economic development.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, THAT
we hereby express our support for Question 6 and urge the voters of the Gty and throughout
our region to support this question in the November 6, 2001 election.
