ORDER, Proposing Amendment to Bangor City Charter, Article ID -A, Superintending school Committee -Term Limitation for Committee Members By Nee aw Cou ci r of Hie City ofRa/5on THAT, WHEREAS, the Bangor City Charter currently permits members of the Supenntending School Committee to serve as often as elected for an unlimited number of conseaitive terms, and WHEREAS, R is In the Interests of the cltlzens of Bangor that the service of members of the Supeinte ding School Committee be limited in the same manner as is currently provided for members of the Bangor Oty Council, NOW, THEREFORE, By the CM Council of the City of Bangor, be R ORDERED, THAT the follo vi g amendment to Article II -A of the Bangor City Charter be placed on the ballot of the nett regular municipal election, to be held on November 6, 2001, for approval by the qualified voters of the Ory of Bangor in accordance With Title 30-A M.R.S.A. Sections 2109(1) and 2105: ARTICLE 11-A .SUPERINTENDING SCHOOL COMMITTEE **Sec. 2. Composition, Electldn, Tenure of OfRce. The Superintending School Committee shall consist of 7 members to be elected, at large, by popular vote from among the qualified voters of the City of Bangor. Those members of the committee holding office at the time this amendment takes effect shall serve until their terms ettplre and their successors are duly elected and qualified. The remaining 2 positions shall be filled at a special election to be held not more than 90 days, after the effective date of this amendment The candidate accruing the largest total of votes at the municipal all shall be elected to serve untll the first Monday in November, 1989, and the candidate receiving the next to the largest total number of votes shall be elected to save until the first Monday in November, 1983. Thereafter, at each regular municipal election the qualified voters of the City shall ballot for candidates for office on 01-325 the committee whose terms expire that year. Superintending School Camit[ee - Tern Limitation for Consul Mail Assigned W Councilor f, PUBLIC NOTICE PUBLIC HEMNG Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Bangor will hold Public Hearings on Me Proposed Charter Amendment to Me Bangor City Charter on August 13, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Room, Third Floor, Bangor City Hall, n Harlow Street.
