Considering the intense parking measure put on this street by students of John Bapst High School, Dc. Bigda's request is not unreasonable. A similar situation las[ year with Dr. Curtis on Somerset St, resulted in a haMica , space in front of that office. The space he has requested is the first one north of his once driveway. A notice will be sent to the residents on the block of French St. affected by this informing them of the request by Dr. Bigda. e ent Head Manager's Comments:-NWILUn qi ai ' ' nOOatan^ p—• - --Ju ih o-uel city ager t"""'1^" O.M1'Opr-ce-'ncrY' .id✓a w Ad-ru d.ps,Q(, Associated ivformadov: r --a• Finance Director Legal Approval: City Solicito Introduced for Passage First Heading ' I Referral rJb 11Upw Awigued to Councilor nalaecci April 23, 2001 CITY OF BANGOR (TITS)the C; Amerdin¢Schedule PlofChaoter 291 Ar;che111, (the code o o Ban r ar'ieu"n or7a---- - renTi 34--------- as U ordained by W City Ciuneil was City WBonmo., der Amus: Chapter 291, Arlicle 111, Schedule nis hereby amended through the addlnon ofthefollowtag: French A— Commencing 2S2feetfvm the northerly curbline of Somerset St. and Wending 20 feet M a northerly direction on the east side ofthe street, as defined by signs. Thank you for your help in this matter. Rasp ia ;e'd-. `/l lPauD. Bigda, D.P.M. 01-187 B aine Bangor Police Department 35 Court Street DonaBangor, Maine 04401 Chbf harof Polka d. Winslow Tel. 207-947-7384 oFax 207-945,6824 April 16, 2001 Dear French St. resident, Dr. Paul Bigda OfEmboun Maine Podiatry, which is located at 261 French Se, has requested that a handicap parking space be designated in front of his office. As you are Probably well aware, the parking situation on your black during the school year can be somewhat cramped. Dr. Big la has indicated that a number of his patients with either pecmavent or temporary disabilities often have difficulty finding a spate. Designating this space would increase the likelihood that these patterns would have aplace to park. The effect an the neighborhood would be small, since this space is normally Occupied all day anyway. The catch is that designating a space for handicap parking is not a Monday through Friday Gam 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM deal. This space would only be avaihable to autbmized vehicles (those displaying handicap home plates or a handicap placard in the window) all day every day. The Bangor City Councils Govemmern Opemfions Committee will be reviewing Dr. Bigda's request in the near future. If you would like an Opportunity to address the committee concerning this, please contact the Parking Division 9 947-7387. I will keep Yom name, address and telephone number an file and contact you with the date and time of the meeting. You may also mail written commands to either myself, City Manager Barrett Of W the chairperson of the Government operations Committee. If you have any quesficns, please feel free to contact me. In addition, I am sure that Dr. Bigda would be happy to discuss his request personally. Sincerely, 41 Sgt. Jim Hodges
