Responsible Department Forestry/Highway Commentary: We have received anApplication for a Community Forestry Assistance Program for Brawn and Prends Woods. The Grant will cover several different areas of improvements to these two palls: Development, implementation, and support for long-term and sustained Community Forestry Programs, Continuous Forest Inventory Plots, Provide educational programs and technical assistance to state and local agencies, improve understanding of benefits of protecting tree cover in populated areas, and develop comprehensive forest management plan. This will Include woodland pruning to Improve the health, aesthetics and quality of these stands, removing hazardous trees as well as those that are over competitive, or are unwanted species. The total project cost will be $ 20,000. The Cltys share Is expected to be $ 10,000, with a like amount for the grant. The entire grant will be split equally between Brown Woods and Prends Woods. The City share is recommended to betaken from the Forest Reserve Account.
