Item/Subject: RESOLVE, Authorizing the Chair of the Bangor City Council and the
Superintendent of the Bangor School Department to Advise the University of Maine as to the
Recipient Of the Robert E. and Rosemary K. Baldatti Scholarship

Commentary:
A scholarship fund has been established at Me University of Maine in memory of Rabert E. and Rosemary
IC Baidaai. Each year, a scholarship will be given to a Bangor High graduate who will be attending Me
University of Maine and who has demonstrated a commitment to public service. A representative of the
family has made arrangements with the University of Maine for the Ory of Bangor to be Involved In the
annual selection process. This Resolve will authorize the Council Chair and Superintendent of Schools or
their designees M advise the University on the award of Me scholarship.

WHEREAS, the Robert E. and Rosemary K. Baldacci Scholarship Fund has been established at
the University of Maine in recognition of the many years of public and community
service provided by Robert and Rosemary Baldacci to the City of Bangor, and
WHEREAS, this scholarship will be given each year to a Bangor High School graduate who will
be attending the University of Maine and who has demonstrated a commitment to
public service; and
WHEREAS, a representative of the Baldaal family has made arrangements with the
University of Maine for representatives of the City of Bangor to be involved in the
process of annually selecting the recipient of this scholarship; and
WHEREAS, such Invo vennent is appropriate given the contributions of Robert E. and
Rosemary K Baldacci to the Bangor community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE Crry OF BANGOR, THAT
the Chair of the Bangor City Council and the Superintendent of the Bangor School Department
or their designees shall annually review potential candidates for this scholarship and advise the
University of Maine as to which candldates or candidates best meet the requirements of this
scholarship.
