Rem/Subject: Order—Authorizing the City Manager to apply for $50,000 in funds as part
of Me Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Program

The police department has been notified that we may be eligible to recelve up to $50,000 In funds
available through the Juvenile Accountability Black Grant Program. The City of Bangor has already taken
advantage of this program and has been awarded funds in both 2000 and 2001. This money was used to
develop the juvenile diversion program known as "Jump Start", which has been administered by the
YMCA. A portion of these funds have and will continue to support our Police Athletic League. If
approved, this new money would be used to continue these programs through September 30, 2003. The
program would continue to be administered by the YMCA and the City of Bangers role is that of the fiscal
agent. There is a 10% match obligation that the YMCA has agreed to cover.

ORDERED,
THAT the City Manager be authorized to apply for $50,000 In funds as part of the
Juvenile Accountability Block Gram Program for the purpose of continuing the "Jump Sart"
Juvenile Diversion Program, and supporting the Police Athletic League.
