the Department of Human Services —Children's Dental Clinic

ORDERED,
THAT the City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for and accept from the State
of Maine, Department of Human Service; Bureau of Health a grant of $16,000 for Me
Children's Dental Clinic to be administered by the City of Bangor, Health and Welfare
Department for the period July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2003.

TO IDIOCATIONAL,u PREVENTIVE AND TREATTENT SERVICES.
STRATEGY : Continue the School Dental Health Education and
Fluoride Program.
STRATaDv a: The Hygienist will encourage referrals by word of mouth
free Bangor eligible referrals tram Hazgor School Horses
and from Season School Teachers. Clinic staff will encourage
referrals in-house from Bangor Public Health purees,
Bangor Health and welfare Department and H.I.C., again by
in-person Contacts and word of mouth. The Dentist mill
do the save for Pangora physio and dentists.
Referrals sources are noted in patient charts.
STRATEDly 3: continue giving presentations on preventive dental health
and hygiene via public a announcements on television

preschools and young mothers' groups stressing the importance
of weaning children off eight -time bottles once their first
teeth erupt.

importance of dental checkups, fluoride treatments and oral
hygiene instructions for infanta and very young children.

CONTRACT STRATSOY: Continue to inform medical care providers and agencies
within the Bangor area that the Clinic specializes i
preventive and restorative dental services for any and
all eligible special needs children chat are Bangor
residents. Special Maeda children include tMae with
any difficult -to -manage behavior pattern and/or any
syndrome or medically compromising condition.
There is no psychological or physiological condition
that a Clinic -eligible child can have that would
prevent that child from receiving first-rate
preventive and/or restorative services at the Bangor
Children's Dental Clinic. Referral sources are noted
in patient's Chart.
