Commentary:
Members of the Bangor Police Department who were assigned to the Maine Drug Enforcement
Agency (MDEA) were instrumental in Me investigation that led to Mis seizure. As a result of an
investigation Stephen Sanborn, age 51 of Bangor, Maine, was arrested on April 10, 2000 and chargetl
with safficidng in Schedule "W" drugs (ogmnfin).
Prosecutors in the case filed for forfebure on an amount of cash that was seizetl from the
defendant. Because Bangor Police Officers partidpated in this investigation, the Police Department may
be entitled W a share of the forfeited assets in this case.

forfeiture action, enclosed please find the original Approval of Transfer document which
has been signed by Bangor's City Clerk. Mrs. Campbell was authorized to sign the
document by the Bangor City Council pursuant to Council Order #02-289, an attested
copy of which is also enclosed for your records.
