Hamer, Assistant City Solicitor Subject: Proposed Ordinance Amendment to Increase Airport Parking Penalties Vane July I6, 2002 Rebecca Hupp requested that the Legal Department draft an announce amendment to increase the fines for illegal parking on airport property m combat an increasing number of illegally parked vehicles. In addition to increasing the fares, the amendment will give the police department the authority to immobilize or impound arty vehicle found parked in an area marked "No Parking" or parked in an off� area without a valid permit if it is within 500 feet of the terminal to assist the airport in complying with the Federal regulation requiring that no vehicle be left unattended within 300 feet of the terminal. Staffrecommends that this Committee refer this amendment to the full Council for first reading.
