Commentary:
The parposeofthis amendment is to amend the Airport Rules to increase thepanking foes torpedoing
violations on airport property. Additionally, this amendment authorizes the police department to impound
or immobilize any vehicle found puked in m area marked" o Parking' or parked in an off-street area
without a valid permit if it is located within 500 fed of the airport terminal.

Subject: Proposed Ordinance Amendment to Increase Airport Parking Penalties

Rebecca Hupp requested that the Legal Department draft an announce amendment to increase the
fines for illegal parking on airport property m combat an increasing number of illegally parked
vehicles. In addition to increasing the fares, the amendment will give the police department the
authority to immobilize or impound arty vehicle found parked in an area marked "No Parking" or
parked in an off� area without a valid permit if it is within 500 feet of the terminal to assist the
airport in complying with the Federal regulation requiring that no vehicle be left unattended within
300 feet of the terminal.
Staffrecommends that this Committee refer this amendment to the full Council for first reading.
