In 2002, the World Series will bine place August 10 —17'a and will bring W Bangor four International teams as Well as five teams from the US regions. It is anticipated that the City's sponsorship in the amount of $7,600 will cover Me costs associated with providing a police officer(s) at Me game as well as the awards banquet The total anticipated budget for the World Series is $75,000. Organizers are soliciting donations throughout the community. Representatives are in hopes that City sponsorship would not be requested beyond year two of the event Deprament Head Manager's Comments: The attached order will approve City sponsorship. Funding is proposed in Me FY03 budget. IN CITY COUNCIL May 13, 2002 02-219 Notion Made and Seconded for Passage ORDER Passed Title, Authoriaiog City SpousorsMp of the dffi Senior Little League World Series Assigned to P11 Councilor Dear Community Supporter, 02_219 Little League Baseball Inc. has honored Bangor Senior Little League and Mansfield Stadium by selecting them as the Hosts for the Senior Little League World Series commencing in the year 2002. The World Series in 2002 is sched- uled for August 10-17. The World Series will normally be held in the third week of August each year, and Bangor will be the host site for at least the next five years and possibly longer. The World Series is a wonderful opportunity for the Greater Bangor Area and the State of Maine to be showcased on an international stage. The World Series will bring to Bangor 4 international reams, (Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and Canada) as well as five teams from the US regions (East, South, Midwest, Southwest and West). We will also be able to place a Host Team (District 3 Cham- pions) into the World Series. The World Series will be a round-robin tournament with each team playing at least four games and a total of 23 games played to reach a World Series Champion. We expect national and international media attention focused on Bangor for the duration of the Toumament. The proposed budget for the World Series is approximately $75,000.00 annually. Bangor Senior Little League and Mansfieldd Stadium are seeking busi- nesses or individuals who would be interested in hclping sponsor some of the ex- penses associated with the World Series. Sponsorship levels are listed on the next page. In kind goods or services to the World Series can also be used at ap- plicable sponsorship level. JOHNSON ASSOCIATES, INC., a corporation with offices in Boston, Commonwealth of Massachusetts (hereinafter "Consultant'). WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, the City entered into a Contract for Professional Services with Consultant dated April 18,20()l (hereivafler "CorwaU'); and WHEREAS, the Contract was amended m provide for design services related to West Market Square by Amendment dated August 1, 2001; and WHEREAS, the Contract was amended to further expand the scope of the said Contract to provide for design and engineering services for the public areas along the Penobscot River's edge from the area of the Chamberlain Bridge down river to the area of the end of the new sheet Piling bullhead, the land area along Front Street from the Chamberlain Bridge to the Railroad Street mil crossing, and the land area correcting downtown with the waterfront from the intersection ofBatgor Alley and Broad Streetun the Chamberlain Bridge by Second Amendment dated February 12,2001; and WHEREAS, the parties wish to mother expand the scope of the said Contract to provide for 1000/a design and engineering services, bidding and construction documents for Front Street and the Front Street Puking Area; and additional engineering services related to the bulkhead to be performed by Bourne Consulting Engineering under a subcontract with Carol R. Johnson Associates, Me. NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promisee and covenants contained in Otis Amendment the ponies hereto agree as follows: 1. Consultant agrees to provide the personnel, supplies, equipment and labor necessary to perform the services outlined in Carol R. Johnson Associates Inc. Proposal for Professional Services: Front Servet and Poking Area: Contract Documents and Construction Phase Services dated April 22, 2002 incorporated into this Amendment by reference. 2. Consultant agrees to also provide the personnel, supplies, equipment and labor necessary in perform the services outlined in Carol R. Johnson Associates Ina Proposal for Additional Services; Structural Assessment and Design Development for Structural Improvements in Existing Sheet Piling dated April 10, 2002 incorporated into this Amendment by reference. 3. Consultant shall submit invoices for payment in accordance with Section 9 of the Contract. 4. Compensation - a. To addition W the compensation provided for in Section 8 of the Contract, the City agrees to pay Consultant for services and reimbursable expenses to be provided under the Proposal for Professional Services: Front Sheet and Parking Area: Contract Documents and Construction Phase Services dared April 22, 2002 acconting to the Proposed Fees for the MA Design Team for professional fide on an hourly basis in an amount not to exceed $87,420 to CRIA and an amount not to exceed $8,000 in reimbursable expenses; and an amount on an hourly basis not to exceed $23,816 for Wright -Pierce for civil and electrical engineering services and an meant net to exceed $1,410 in reimbursable expenses.
