Item/Subject Order - Authorizing the City Manager to apply for $70,000 in funds from the
Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention

The police department has been notified that we may be eligible to receive up to $70,000 In funds
available through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, of the US Department of
Justice, Ofice of Justice Programs. There are two funding opportunities, one for delinquency prevention
and the other for Intervention projects M reduce the rates of juvenile delinquency. Each program offers a
maximum funding opportunity of $ 35,000. If approved these funds would be used to support the
Juvenile diversion program known as "Jump Stm , which has been administered by the YMCA. A portion
of these funds will also support our Police Athletic League. The Program would continue to be
administered by the YMCA and the City of eangoes role is that of Me fiscal agent There is a 10% match
obligation that the YMCA has agreed to cover.
