Item no. _ 09-x
Date: January 28, 2002
Item/Subject- That the City Manaaer and/or Airport DirectIor be authorized to apply to the
United StatesGovernment, Federal Aviation Administratri n for a arantu cement of
additional secunty costs moosed by new, reculations.
Responsible Department: Airport
Commentary: The FY 2002 Defense Appropriations bill included an increase of $175
million in AIP funds to compensate aiports for a portion of direct operating costs
associated with new, additional or revised security requirements imposed on Aiports
on or after September 11, 2001. The Aiport is applying for $258,554. There is no
requirement for 5% local matching funds as is normally mcluired in AIP funding. It is
anticipated that only part of the request will be granted as the $175 million will be
spread among many, airports.
