Responsible Department: Police Commentary: The attached resolve will appropriate $24,131.95 from the State Drug Forfeiture account to purchase a computerized drug testing unit for the purpose of safely and accurately identifying suspected narcotics and other unknown substances without the necessity of an officer having direct contact with the substance. If approved, the City will purchase Tru Narc, an analyzer manufactured by Thermo Scientific Portable Analytical Instruments of Tewksbury, MA. It is the same testing equipment used by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and police agencies across the state including Portland and Lewiston. This purchase was reviewed and approved by the Finance Committee on February 6, 2017.
