Item No. 17-105
Date: March 13th, 2017
Item/Subject: Resolve, Accepting and Appropriating an additional $52,245 in grant funds
from the University of New England to focus on youth substance abuse prevention initiatives in
Penobscot County.
Responsible Department: Public Health & Community Services
Commentary: This resolve would accept and appropriate $52,245 from the University of New
England to amend an original grant of $100,000 that was accepted and appropriated in
November 2016.
The original work plan included an assessment of resources and capacity in the Penquis Public
Health District, which covers Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties. This amendment will allow for
further development and implementation of action plans to reduce youth substance use in
Penobscot County.
The total amended amount of the grant is $152,245. The term of the grant is December 1,2016
to September 30, 2017.
This Resolve was reviewed and approved at the March 6#', 2017 Government Operations
Committee meeting.
