BOLA, the regional code which the Cry has hhoorically adopted, has merged with Me other two regional code
authorities to fond Me International Coce Coundl and has produced! the Intenotional Gude series which is recognized
by local and state governments, designers and professiowls. This will be Me second edition of Me IMC the Clry has
adopted since the merger of the three code authorities. The 2003 edition replaces the 20M edition.

Mechanical Code, and Replacing It with New Chapter 180, Mechanical Code.

Section 1
The Code of the City of Bangor is hereby amended by deleting and repealing Chapter 180, Mechanical
Code.

The Code of the City of Bangor is hereby amended by adding Hereto a new Chapter, to replace
Chapter 180 hereinabove repealed, to bei Chapter 180, Mechanical Code, as follows:
§ 180-1. Adoption of code.
In aceordance with 30-A M.R.S.A. § 3003, the International Mechanical Code 2003, published by the
International Code Council, Inc., is hereby adopted and incorporated by reference as the standard far
the design, installadon and maintenance of all mechanical systems in the City of Bangor, including
heating systems, ventilating systems, cooling systems, steam and hot water hearing systems, process
piping, bolters and pressure vessels, appliances utilizing gas, liquid or solid fuel, chimneys and vents,
mechanical refdgeration systems, fireplaces, barbecues, crematories, fire protection systems and air
pollution control systems.
§ 180-2. Amendments.
Said Mechanical Code is adopted In its published form as If fully set forth herein, except as follows:
A. Section 101.1 is amended to read as follows:
101.1 Title. This cede shall be known as the "Mechanical Code of the City of Bangor," hereinafter
referred to as the "Mechanical Cade" or "this cote."
B. Section 103.1 Is deleted in Its entirety and replaced with the following:
103.1 General, The Code Enforcement Officer shall be designated the code official for the purposes
of this code.
C. Section 103.2 is deleted in_p entirety.

D. Section 106.5.2 is amended to read as follows:
106.5.2 Fee schedule. The fees for all mechanical work shall be as indicated in Chapter 109, Article
I of the Code of the City of Bangor.
E. Section 108.4 is deleted In Its entirety and replaced widh the following:
108.4 Civil penalties. The requirements of 3PA M.R.S.A. 4 4452 shall apply to the determination of
penalties for vidabons of this code. The minimum penalty, far a specific violation of this code shall
be $100 and the maximum penalty shall be $2,500; provided, however, that the maximum penalty
may exceed $2,500 but shall not ex ad! $25,000 when it an be shown that there has been a
previous conviction of the same parry within the past two years for violation of the same code
provision.
F. Section 109 is deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following:
109 Appeels. An appeal may be taken from any order, decision or other anion of the Code offical
to the Board of Appeals (hereinafter called the "Board") established by Chapter 23, Article I of the
Code of the City of Bangor. The matter shall be heard by the Board in accordance with the
procedures set out in Chapter 81, Building Code, of the Code of the City of Bangor.
