Under this program, the state will provide the units and pay for two-thirds of their cos[. While the City has gradually been installing LED units, Incandescent bulbs remain in 44 of our intersections. Prior W this program, we estimated that a full changeover would require appmximately $200,000. With the State discount for bulk purchases and the chat sharing formula for this program, we estimate that this retrofit will now cost approximately $30,000, an amount which the City should recrvcr In about one year. Funding for the City share of this program is included in the proposed Fy04 budget. We have also discussed this program during budget sessions and received informal approval to proceed. On that basis, I have recently executed 44 agreements with the state covering the various affected intersections I would be remiss if I did not call to your allendon the efforts of Arthur Stockus and Aron Larson of our Public Works Department who insured that our request went to the State on the same day that we received information on this program. Given that the program had limited funding and Mat these funds were to be expended on a first come, frst serve basis, their quick response insured that our entire request was met and will result in significant savings W the City.
