HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-05-28 03-170 RESOLVECOUNCILAMON Item NO. 03-170 Date: May 26, 2003 Item/Subject: RESOLVE - Accepting 6 Appropriating a Homeless Continuum of Care grant from HUD Responsible Department: Community R Economic Development Commentary: In May of 2002 submittetl our annual request for funding for several homeless programs under the HUD "Homeless Continuum of Care Super NOW (Noice Of Funding Availability) for a topal request of $690,803. This application included six different program requests. In December of 2002, each of those six was funded for a ental of $653,4]8. This Resolve actresses one of these awarcls, a one year renewal of the existing program grant for the Acadia Recovery Community (ARC)"Brldge Program"far a total of $]2,6]8. This very successful program was originally funded in 19% to contend We ARC 10 -bed facility at 185 Indiana Avenue, and to fund 75% of three years of operating and supportive services costs. The intense sernce coordination combined with recovery, support In the context of a therapeutic community has made this program a model for success with a very difficult population. The attedhed Resolve will accept and appropriate these grant funds. There will be no matching funds required from me CM under the grant Matrhlrn3 funds in the amount of $52,645 are provided by Acadia Healthcare, Inc, along with $32,400 from the Maine Department of Behavioral 6 Developmental Services. This grant is administered by the Community and Economic Development Department. I would recommend your approval of this Resolve. Resolve, Accepting and Appropriating a Homeless Continuum of Care grant from HUD WHEREAS, The City of Bangor has applied for funding to the U5. Department of Housing and Urban Development under its "Homeless Continuum of Care Super NO to renew funding for one year for operations and ce lvery of suppodwe sevices at the Acadia Recovery Community "Bddge Progmm" to address the needs of chronically homeless substance abusers or dually diagnosed adult diens; and WHEREAS, The funding was awarded in the amount of $72,670. NOW, THEREFORE, BE R RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bangor, that the grant amount of $72,678 from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is hereby accepted and appropriated.
