Referendum for Approval of Slot Machines at a Commercial Racetrack in the City, of Bangor

On the statewide ballot in November 2003 there will be the following referendum question: Do
you want to allow slot machines at certain commercial harness racing trach A part of the proceeds are
used to lower prescription drug costs for the elderly and disabled, and for scholarships to the State
universltes and technical colleges?
If the majority of the State's voters approve this referendum, the operation of slot machines at a
commercial track cannot begin unless the voters in the municipality with such a tack also vote to
approve slot machines.
Capital Seven, LLC has requested that the Ory of Bangor have its local referendum in June 2003.
To do so requires a Counal Order directing that there be a special election for the purpose of determining
if the voters approve of the operation of slot machines at a commercial harness racing tm& in Bangor.
This Order directs the City Clark t take all necessary action t have the special elecdon.

ORDERED,
THAT the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to prepare the necessary
warrants and ballots, and to take all other necessary action, for the purpose of
submitting the following referendum question to the voters of the City of Bangor at a
special election to be held on June 10, 2003:
"Do you approve of the operation of slot machines at a commercial harness racing track
located in Bangor, Maine?"
