Responsible Department: City Council Commentary: We have recently recaved a report from HOK evaluating potential locations far a new Arena/Conference Center M replace our current facilites at Bass Park. In looking at potential locations, this firm visited! over 20 sites in the area and closely evaluated nine. These nine included a number of sites M Bass Park, on or near the waterfront, and in downtown. The downtown locations offer a number of potential advantages. They: are close to existing shops and restaurants; provide an additional attraction in downtown; would spur additional downtown development and redevelopment; provide multiple access and egress routes; would make use of existing on and off street parking resources; and would support our overall effort to increase the presence of arts, cultural, and entertainment resources in downtown Bangor. At fts last meeting, the Business and Economic Development Committee voted to recommend to the full Council that a resolve be adopted stating the Council's preference that a new Arena/Conference Center be located in downtown Bangor. The attached Resolve would do so, and would outline some orthe major reasons for this preference. uepar mem neaa Manager's Comments: amxx'&ig City Manager Associated Information: Budget Approval: Finance Director Legal Approval: pyy, ity Solicitor Introduced!
