Item/Subject: RESOLVE, Formalizing the City's opposition to the Canadian pre -clearance of
all passengers utilizing the Halifax International Airport for entrance into the United States.
Responsible Department: Airport
Commentary:
This Resolve expresses the City's opposition to the pre -clearance of Canadian passengers
Wrong Halifax International Airport for entrance Into the United States. BIA has been and
continues to be a natural port of entry providing federal Inspection services, Customs and
Immigration services. Allowing Halifax International Airport to obtain Federal pre -clearance
authority vrould place them in direct competition with BIA potentially having a negative Impact
W Bangor's operations and financial success. The. Resolve also authorizes staff to use available
resources to oppose this effort by Halifax International Airport.
