Item No. 04-321
Date: October 25, 2004
Item/Subject: Order, Authorizing an Application to the Federal Aviation Administration and the
Maine, Department of Transportation for an Amendment to an Existing Airport Improvement
Program Grant far Runway 15-33 Safety Area Improvements, Construction of a South Perimeter
Road, and Stabilizing the Runway 15 Glideslope Critical Area.
Responsible Department: Airport
Commentary: This project involves the construction of a portion of the airport's
pertmor road. Currently, some fueling operations require crossing Runway 15-33. The
existing perimter road, south of the runway, is not paved and is not designed to handle
fueling vehicles. This proposed portion of the perimeter road is designed to handle the
fueling vehicles and ci W a safer fueling operation. The total cost of the project is
$147,762.00, the federal portion is $140,373.90, State and Airport's portion is $3,694.05.
The Airport's portion is in the A'irport's budget. The design phase has been completed.
This project will improve safety by eliminating the need for fueling vehicles to cross the
Amway.
The attached order will authorize an amendment to an existing Airport Improvement
Grant to allow this project to proceed.
