Commentary: The MMA Legislative poky Committee is comprised of 2 local representatWg fmm each
State Senate DistdR State Senate District 32 consists of Bogor and Hermon. Due to Bangor's
population, we are permitted to appoint one nepreaentadve as well as to participate in nominating/
electing a representative Por the second posNon. After review at a Government Operations Committee
meeting, Councilors were piled m determine interest in seMng. Councilor Cashwell volunteered tr
serve as Bangoes appointee to the LPC, and R was suggoYecl that the City Managers name be placed In
nomination for me second! seat The Town of Henson has chosen not to nominate anyone for the LPC.
This Order would cast Bangor's ballot for the YC. As in the past, alternates (Coundlors and staff) have
filled in should the regular member be unable to attend.

Re: Ballots for Election to MMA'S Legislative Policy Committee
MMIA's member municipalifies have made their connotations; frr the 2004-2006 Legislative
Policy Committee(LPC). Itisnowtimetoelectyowme smtavvestoservemileCommittee.
The elecfion ballot is enclosed. The ballot must be completed by the Board of Selectmen or Town or
City Council of your municipality.
Number of votes
Most municipalities are asked or vote for two candidates, because there are two elected
LPC members for mos[ districts. Some municipalities only vote for one candidate, because the

If you are not familiar with any of the candidata please review the Candidate Profiles on
the back of the ballot. Feel free, also, to court the candidates directly.
Write-in candidates
In addition to the candidates listed on the ballot, you may vote for a candidate whose time
you write in. The write-in candidate need not be from yew municipality, but must be an elected or
appointed official from a municipality in your Smate[LPC district. Check to be sure the write-in
candidate is willing to serve if elected! Write-in candidates should be communicating Heir interest in
serving among the municipal officers within their district

mucocipsi experience m two other states. Mr. Barrett has served on N M s Legislative Policy Committee for
several years and would like to continue to serve to work on the issues of taxation sed tax reform, as well as
issues affecting Maine's service center mmmuuities.
