Responsible Department: Community & Economic Development
Commentary:
In July of 2004 the City submitted our annual request for funding for several homeless programs unser
the HUD "Homeless Continuum of Care Super NOW (Notice Of Funding Availability) for a total request
of $1,106,020. This application Included 10 different program requests. In December of 2004, all 10 of
those were funded for a total of $1,157,667.
This Resolve addresses one of those 10 awards; a one year renewal of the existing program grant for one
full time staff person (the "Transitional Planning Coordinator') at the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter for a
total of $18,600. This very successful program was originally funded in 1999. The purpose of the staff is
.to assist homeless adults to achieve more independent and appropriate housing. By assisting these
individuals in transitioning on to housing, more free are freed up at the Shelter. This staff has become
an Integrel entry point for homeless adults in Bangor.
The attached Resolve will accept and appropriate the grant funds. There will be no matching funds
required from the City under the grant. Matching funds in the amount of $15,298 are provided by the
State Bureau of Behavioral and Developmental Services through CHCS. This grant Is administered by the
Community and Economic Development Department.
