part of the Fiscal Year 2005 Department of Homeland Security Grant

The H05 Department of Homeland SecurM Grant Program has made $445,000 available to Me City of
Bangor. The Police Deparbnent is preparing an application to the Maine Emergency Management Agcecy
(MEMA), which oversees the distribution of these funds. Pending approval, our intent Is to use Me
funding to develop and Implement a reliable mobile data terminal system. Staff has been working on a
multiphase project Mat would provide for a reliable system of interoperable voice and data
communia[ion for public safety. A previous COPS grant Is funding the improvements to our voice
communication, and this endeavor should allow us to complete the data communication phase of the
project.
