HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-02-28 05-88 RESOLVE------COUNCIL Item no ns-gg Date: 2-21-05 Item/Subject: Resolve, Accepting & Approprladng Department of Homeland Security Funds for the Purpose of Improving Preparedness for and Response to Homeland Security Related Events Responsible Department: Public Safety The City was recently awarded $226,752.07 In grant funding for the direct purchase of equipment. The grant funds were available W all aties and towns in Maine as part of the Fiscal Year 2003 State Homeland Security Grant Program, which was funded by the Department of Homeland Security, Office for Domestic Preparedness. The award, follow-up, and oversight agency for this grant program is the Maine Emergency Management Agency. The Citys application Included funding to purchase the following equipment security upgrades, generators, communications equipment, portable lighting, lacdcal medical gear, and a conbibudon to the County CAO project. The intent of the funding is to improve preparedness for and response to Homeland Security related events. The funding for the purchases is 100% federal with no required local match.
