Commentary:
During recent discussions of the City's acquisition and potential dispositionof one property located at 58
Court Street, the Bangor Y indicated a potential Interest in the property as a way of addressing a portion
of their parking needs. With recent changes, a number of programs have now been relocated to the
YMCA or have become more heavily millmd there creating an additional need for parking. While the
Counal has tabletl the Y's request to acquire this property, it also indicated an interest in working with
the Ytoward addressing parking needs.
The attached Resolve would Wt the City on record as supporting cooperative efforts With the Bangor
YMCA to address parking needs in this area.

WHEREAS, the Bangor YMCA recently apismadved the CM with a request to purchase a city owned
property located at 58 Hammond Sheet; and
WHEREAS, the Ws interest in this property is to provide additional parking for pans and staff utllRirg
the Y; and
WHEREAS, the Y has expeHenced a recent increase In parking demand at their Hammond and Court
Street %dl'M due to the relocation of certain programs W this property and additional
utalabon resulting for enhanced YMCA—YWCA cooperadve efforts; and
WHEREAS, while the City Council tabled the Y5 request given cancers regarding affordable housing
and questions surrounding the future use of the Oty's Police Station property located in
Close imman ity to the Y, the (AUMil also Indicated an interest on the part of the Qty to
further explore potential ways of addressing parking needs in this area; and
WHEREAS, the Council directed Mat a resolve to this effed be developed in order M formalize the City's
Interest in working cocpeadveky with Me Y on there parking Issues.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR THAT
It is the intent of the City of Bangor to work cooperatively with the Bangor YMCA to explore
potential avenues that would address the parking needs associated with the Y's facility tooted
at Hammond and Court Streets.
