Commentary: tabor negotiations with Maine AssOdatim of Police (MAP), representing some 57 Patrol
officers have resulted In a tentative agreement between the City and union negotiating committees. This
agreement follows the June 30, 2009 expiration of the most recent Mree-year agreement.
Major points of interest include: a three year term; cost of living adjustment of 2.S% year me, 2.0%
year two, and 2.0% year Mree; Increase In private duty rates; adjustments to clothing allowance,
education Incentives, canine officer and specialty positim compensation; clarification of vacation
scheduling and grievance procedure Bmefames; recognition of MAP as bargaining agent (replacing
Teamsters) and various other housekeeping changes,
The Police Patrol unit has formally ratified the temave agreement. The proposal is within City Council
established bargaining guidelines and Is ready for your formal consideration. The agreement Is presented
wish the recommendation of Me Management Negotiation Committee (Harty, Courtols, Don Winslow,
Peter Arno), and I concur as well. This has been reviewed by the Council InytQ� A copy of

representing patrol officers at Bangor Police Department for a term of three years
commencing July 1, 2004 and expiring June 30, 2007.
