hum/Suri Resolve, Designating the Week of April 12-18, 2004 as National Community Development
Week in the City of Bangor.
Responsible Department: Community & Economic Development
Commentary:
The purpose of this Resolve Is W designate April 12-I8, 2004 as National Community
Development Week. This Week is designated to call attention to the many benefits that our
nal communities reap from this program and the partnerships that It supports.
This year, the federal administration has proposed reductions in a variety of domestic programs,
Including the Community Development Block Gant program. As a result, the attached resolve
also rolls upon the federal government and our Congressional delegation to show continued
support for this program by funding it: fully and maintaining its current structure and features.
During our recent participation in the National League of Cities Spring Meeting in Washington,
we had the opportunity to express our support for this program directly to our delegation. This
resolve will reinforce the message we provided at that time
Recommend approval.
