HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-11-08 05-06 ORDERDate: November 8, 2004 Item IN 0i Item/Subject: Re -Award of Runway De-icing Fluid Responsible Department: Purchasing/Airport On August 16, 2004 a contract or approximately 40,000 gallons of runway de-icing fluid was awarded to Old World Industries of Northbrook, Illinois. On October 18, 2004 Old World issued a notice [hat they would not he able to deliver W Bangor due to a "shortage of available trucks W service this business"—see attached letter. Airport staff has reviewetl the other bids that we received in August and recommend that we award the new three year contact to the bird low bidder, Oearway, LLC of Newark, NJ. for $2.71 per gallon. This company, formerly Jarchem Industries, Inc., provided runway de-icing fluid m the Airport Forte previous six years and provided excellent service. The bid from Clarient Corp. ($2.67) was Four cents per gallon less but their delivery will take much longer than Clearway since be product must be trucked from North Cambria (48 hours vs. 16 hours). Snce delivery is sometimes critical to the operation of be Airport, theslightly higher price is considered well worth the additional annual cost of approximately $1,600.
