Commentary:
The City Council has recently completed the annual evaluation of the City Manager. As a result of
that process, an amendment to the Managers existing employment agreement has been prepared
that innomora es the results of the evaluation. The amendment extends the term of the Managers
contract for one additional year, to September 30, 2009, and adjusts the Managers salary to gram
him the 2% cost of Irving provided in July M all non -unionized City employees and a me -step merit
increase to be egective as of the first full pay period commencing on or after October 1, 2006.
The evaluation and amendment to the employment agreement vrere deseloped under the adopted
City policy governing the evaluation of Council appointees and have been reviewed by the full
Council.

agreement between the City of Bangor and Edward A. Barrett, City Manager, a copy of which is
atthched hereto.

The employment agreement dated December 19, 2005 made and entered into
by and between the CITY OF BANGOR (Penobscot County), State of Maine, a municipal
corporation, hereinaH r sometimes referred to as -Employer,' and Edward A. Barrett of
Bangor, State of Maine, hereinafter sometimes remand W as "Employee, is hereby

C. Employee agrees to remain in the exclusive employ of Employer until
September 30, 2009, and neither to accept other employment nor to became employed
by any other employer so long as this agreement shall be in eftd.

installments at the same time as other employees of the Employer are paid.

signed and executed in its behalf by its Council Chairman, and duly attested by Its Ory
Clerk, and the Employee has signed and exembed this agreement both in duplicate, the
day and year first above written.
