Commentary:
On May 22, 2006, the City Council authorised the eseortlon of a gram application to the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Developmentfor Economic Development Initiative Funds in the
amount of $321,750. The City has received notification that the grant application has been
approved.
The attached Resolve will appropriate the gam funds. The grant was awarded for Infrastructure
improvements for the Bangor Waterfront Park on Me Penobscot River in the area downriver from
Rallroad Street between the railroad track and the Penobscot River. This area has been designated
as an open space and recreation area in the Bangor Waterfront Master Plan. The Gty has engaged
the design firm Shadley Assoclates to work with staff and the Business and Economic Development
Committee to develop a plan for this area for improvements Mat will be undertaken during the next
construction season.
This grant does not require any local match.

BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR:
BE IT RESOLVED, that a $321,750 grant from the Department of Housing and Urban _
Development's Economic Development Initiative Program is hereby appropriated for the
purpose of funding infrastructure improvements in the area south of Railroad Street between
the Guilford Transportation milread track and the Penobscot River, and designated as an open
space and recreation area in the Bang& Waterfront Master Plan.
