Commentary:
Labor negotiations moth Police Support Staff have resulted In a Tentative Agreement between the
City and Union Negotiating Committees. This agreement Mows the lune 30, 2007 expiration of
the most recent agreement between the parties. Major points of significance Induce: a three
year term; wage adjustments of 3% year one, 3'A%year two, and 3'/s%year three; new
heath Insurance carder, rates, and cost sharing base plan; workweek schedule change for
certain employees; ability to establish a sick leave pool to assist III employees; Increases In
educational incentives; a new pay step in the second and third years of the contract; and other
routine housekeeping changes.
The Police Support Staff Unit has recently voted to ratify the Tentative Agreement. The
Agreement has been reached within the bargaining guidelines previously established by the City
Council. This has been reviewed in Executive Session with the Coundl and is nmv ready for your
formai consideration. The Agreement Is presented with the recommendation of the Chief and
Deputy Police Chief, labor Relations Officer, and Assistant City Manager.

BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ME CITY OF BANGOR THAT:
the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement
between the City of Bangor and Teamsters Local 340 representing Police Support Staff
for a term of three years commencing July 1, 2007 and ending lune 30, 2010.
