The City Council has previously waNed the standard bid process for the purchase of thus unit since the City has received a $450,000 federal grant that expires on December 31, 2008 toward the purchase price of this unit Given this deadline, the City would be unable to prepare bid specifications, bid the equipment, and take deliver prior to the grant expiration data Fire personnel have met with representatives of a number of vendors and have explored the quality of their units, price, and delivery time. The Department's recommendation is m purchase the Quint from Merce Manufacturing in the amount of $668,919. This decision was based upon product quality, proprietary features, maintaining Flee[ consistency, and this compam/s ability to deliver the truck within the required tlme frame.
