Responsible Department: City Manager As a result of the recently enacted State School Consolidation law, the City must schedule a school budget validation election subsequent to the approval of the School Budget by the School Committee and the City Council. As we have discussed during the budget review process, this election should be held prior to the beginning of the next fiscal year on Jury 1' and mus[ be held within ten days of final City Council approval of the School butlget. In order to reduce both Inconvenience to the voters and costs, holding this election in conjunction with Me June 10P primary appears to be the beat option. The attached order will set the election data and the form of the validation Wesbon, which is set by state statute.
