These measures included installation of a raised crosswalk and traffic island/deserter on Howard Street between Garland and Mt Hope Avenue and also a temporary prohibition of left turns at the State Street/Howard Street Intersection. The Committee also received comments from several area residents. After lengthy discussion, the Committee voted 3/2 to retain the raised crosswalk and traffic island diverter, but to eliminate the left turn prohibition at State Street for a six- month trial basis. The attached Order would Implement the Committee's recommendation. It should be noted that if this Order is approved, the sa-month trail period extends through this winter season and placemerit of traffic counters will need to be done prior to onset of Winter conditions. /s/ lames o. City staff is further directed to report bade to the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee regarding the impact of this change six months after It has been made.
