The Commission has been authorized by the CIN Council to review applications to the ON for funding from arts and cultural organizations and to recommend a course of action to Me City Council for Meir review and consideration. The Bangor Symphony Orchesim will not have access to pedmmance space In the Maine Centerfor Ne Arts from October 2007 through May 2008 while thatfadliN is under mconsbucdon. Dufing Mattime,BSOwill perform in Bangor, including four events at the Bangor Auditorium, three of which are new. Because the Bangor Auditorium doe cwt have the sound and lightng amenitle appropriate to symphonic performances, the BSO must have special light and round equipment brought in to accommodate each of their performances. The Symphony has budgeted $30,000 for those expenses, and applied for a grant from the City for $30,000. In its review of the application, the Commission noted that the programs to be pressmed in the Bangor Auditorium are exciting and Matthey include a wide range of collaboration with other musical organlzadons in the Bangor area. The Commission also noted Nat the performance In Bangor may help to increase the BSds local audience base. In arriving at its funding recommendation of $15,000 rather than the full amount requested, the Commission was mindful that Its annual appropriation for FYE 6130108 Is $125,000 and that this Is the I'm funding cycle for the Oscal year.
