HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-02-14 00-116 ORDERItem No. 00-116 Date: 2-14-00 Item/ Subject: ORDER, Authorizing the City Manager to Implement a Wage increase for Non - Represented Employees at Bangor City Nursing Facility Responsible Department: Executive As the City Caurol may recall, the general pay adjustment (cost d living adjustment) approved far non - represented employees effective July 1, 1999 did not indude non-union employees at Bangor Cry Nursing Facility due in part to low occupancy and poor financial conditions. During this past fall and Into the winter, the facility has experienced occupancy increases and an Improving operating condition for the current fiscal year. This Order would authodze the City Manager to Implement a ane -time rash payment of $200 per employee in Him of me general pay adjustment for approximately 21 non -represented employees. ThIs payment reflects an acknowledgement of the improving situation at BCNF and covers the period July 1, 1999 to lune 30, 2000. Eligible employees mug have completed one year of cwdnuous service as M February, 14, 2000. Necessary funding for this wage proposal is avalMNe within the approved CNF budget. This Order does not cover unionized employees at the Facility. Order, forMon-Reil Emploweess atBoc City N 'n Facility By tee One m# ofNe Lhy of Sargon ORDERED, WHEREAS, the Bangor City Council approved a general pay adjustment for certain non -represented employees effective July 1, 1999; and WHEREAS, non -represented employees at the Bangor City Nursing Facility did not receive the general pay adjustment; and WHEREAS, the decision not to include these employees was reached, in part, due to low occupancy rates and resulting poor financial contrition; and WHEREAS, more recently, the Bangor City Nursing Facility has experienced Increasing occupancy rates and an Improving operating situation for the current fisal year; and WHEREAS, the City proposes to acknowledge the effort involved in producing these improvements; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE BANGOR CITY COUNCIL, THAT the City Manager is authorized to implement a ash payment of two hundred dollars ($200) per employee for non -represented employees who have completed one year of continuous service as February 14, 2000. This payment shall cover the period July 1,. 1999 to June 30, 2000.
