Neighborhood Conservation Project— Property Acquisition

Commentary:
This Order would authorize the following actions relating to the following properties: 15-16 Union Place;
7-11 Union Place and 243-245 Union Street; 273— 277 Union Street; 255 Union Street, and 265 Union
Street:
1. The Director of Community and Economic Development would be authorized to have these properties
appraised.
2. The Community and Economic Development Committee would be authorized to approve offers to the
property owners, the offering amount to be based on the appraised value.
3. If the owners of the property accept the offers, the Director of Community and Economic
Development would be authorized to acquire the property on behalf of the City.
Disposition and reuse, or demolition, of the properties involved] would require future City Council action.
If the property owners should choose not to acoept the City's offer to purchase, no further action would
be taken to acquire the property withotit future Qty Counol auNorization. Costs related to the
acquisition and future disposition of the properties involved would be handed through the Live federally
funded Community Development Program.

WHEREAS, THE City Council by passage of Council Order 99-266 on July 26, 1999
adopted the Community Development Program Revitalization Plan for the Union Mace
Neighborhood Coe a ration Project; and
WHEREAS, said Man provides for the acquisition of properties in the project area which
do not meet code standards, clearence of properties; for which rehabilitation is not appropriate,
and acquisition and rehabilitation of prupertig where feasible or desirable ro meet community
goals;
NOW THEREFORE, BY TRE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, BE IT
ORDERED THAT the following aNerss are authorized relative to the following properties in the
Union Place Neighbomond Conservation Project:
15-16 Union Rare, Lot 41 on City Assessors Map 33
7-11 Union Race and 243-245 Union Street, Lot 42 on Assessors Map 33
273-277 Hammond Streel, Lot 44 on Assessors Map 33
265 Hammond Sheet, Lot 45 on Assessors Map 33
255 Hammond Sheet, Lot 46 on Assessors Map 33
1. The Director of Community and Economic Development is hereby authorized to have these
properties appraised by an independent, qualified, licensed real estate appraiser, and to
have the appraisals reviewed by a qualified reAm appraiser.
2. The Community and Economic Development Committee is hereby authomed to approve
offers W the comers of the above listed properties, the offering amount to be based on the
appraised value.
3. Ute offers are accepted by the movers of the property involved, the Director of
Community and Economic Development Is hereby aut homed to acquire the property
through the We Community Development Program on behalf of the CRy.
