Giant monies up to amaximum of $30,000 per applicant a available with a local match of approximately 20%. These monies, if awarded, would be used to develop trails within the City's Forest. Conservation - Recreational Trails Program Grant By Be city cowiaT oras qty of d1pT901: ORDRR19% T�T WHEREAS, the Transportation Equity Act for the 2191 Century created a recreational trails trust fund; and WHEREAS, the City has established the City Forest as a permanent City forest in its Comprehensive Plan; and WHEREAS, funding under the Recreational Trails Program can be used to develop trails within the City Forest; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR THAT, the City Manager be authorized to apply to the State of Maine Bureau of Parks and Recreation of the Department of Conservation for a Recreational Trails Program Grant; and that the City Manager be authorized to receive and disburse such funds i accordance with the grant guidelines, if the City is successful in its application. After careful con sideration, it was the consensus of the Board that the Program Grant is consistent with and furrhem the City's Comprehensive Plan for guiding growth mM conservation in the futmq and promoting recreational opportunities for the citizens of Bangor. The Board then voted unanimously in favor of motion to rxnmmend to the City Council that the Recreational Trails Program Grant is consistent with the City's Comprelwrtsive Plan.
