Commentary:
In 1898 Joseph P. Bass leased a certain parcel of land to the Maine
Central Railroad on Bangor's waterfront. The City when it
purchased the railroad land along the waterfront acquired its
interest in the lease. The Probate Court authorized the termi-
nation of the trust and the sale of the property to the City. -The
purchase price was the appraised value of $38,000. We have already
had the closing and this item authorizes acceptance of the deed.

TRUSTEES'DEED
FLEET BANK OF MAINE, a Maine corporation with offices located in Bangor,
County of Penobscot, State of Maine, in its capacity a; successor trustee under the Last
Will and Testament of Joseph P. Baas, by the power widened by law and every other
power for consideration paid, grants to CITY OF BANGOR, a municipal corporation,
located in Bangor, County of Penobscot, State of Maine, a certain lot or parcel of land
situate in Bangor, County of Penobscot, State of Maine, bounded and described as
follows, viz:
Commencing at a point marked A on blue print (copy) attached, said blue print
being made a part of this instrument, said point A being on West bank of Penobscot River
on line between land now or formerly owned by Heirs of Daniel B. Hinkle and Heirs of
Thomas N. Every and land of said Joseph P. Bass and Mary M. Bass, turning thence
North Westwardly on said line to point B on blue print, said point B being one hundred
and fifty (150) feel, measured on line at right angles to main track of said Maine Central
Railroad, North Westwardly from centre line of said main track; thence North
Enowardly, on line parallel to said centre line, four hundred and thirty (430) feet, more or
less, to point C on blue prin4 said point C being four hundred and sixty (460) feet
Eastwardly from Easterly line of Main Street, measured on line at right angles to said
Main Street;
thence North Eastwardly, on line parallel va said Easterly line of Main Street, four
hundred and eighty-eight (488) fact more or less, to point D on blue print; thence NOA
Westwardly, on line at right angles to said Easterly line of Main Street two hundred and
thirty-five (235) feet to point E on blue print (said line D to E if extended to the Westerly
line of said Main Street would intersect said Westerly line at Point forty-eight (48) feet
Southwardly from intersection of said Westerly line and Southerly line of Catell Street;
thence North Eastwardly, on line parallel to said Main Sued and two hundred and
twenty-five (225) feet from Main Street or Hampden Road so-called, measured at right
angles from said street three hundred and eighteen (318) feet in point F on blue print;
thence Eastwardly three hundred and thirty-seven (337) feet, more or less, to point G on
blue print;
thence North Eastwardly online at right angles to Dutton Street one hundred (100)
feet to point H on blue print. said point H being on Southerly line of said Dutton Street
four hundred and ninety-six (496) feet South Eastwardly from intersection of said
Southerly line of Dutton Street and said Easterly line of Main Street;
thence from a point in the Northerly line of said Dutton Street on line from said
point G to said point H produced, being point K on blue print, North Eastwardly on line at
right angles to said Dutton Street, one hundred and eighty (180) feet, more or less, to
point L on blue print, said point L being in Westerly line of Right of Way of said Maine
Central Railroad;
thence South Westwardly, along said Westerly line of Right of Way, said Westerly
line being fifty-five (55) feet Westwardly from centre line of main track of said Railroad,
two hundred and fifty (250) feet more or less, to point M on blue print, said point M
being on line produced North Westwardly of line between McLaughlin Wharf property
(so-called) and land of said Joseph P. Bass and Mary M. Bass;
thence South Eastwardly on said line produced and on line between said
McLaughlin Wharf property and land of said Joseph P. Bass and Mary M. Bass to the
Penobscot River at point N on blue print; meaning to embrace all the land of said Lessors
East of the Railroad location and not covered thereby;
thence generally South Westwardly along said Penobscot River on the westerly
side thereof to point of beginning at Point A on blue print including all wharves, riparian
rights and appurtenances, but excepting therefrom all land or Right of Way now (or
formerly) owned or controlled by said Maine Central Railroad Company.
Being the same premises formerly owned by Joseph P. Bass and Mary M. Bass, as
described in a certain lease to Maine Central Railroad Company, as Lessee, data] April 1,
1898, and recorded in Penobscot County Registry of Deeds, Book 682, Page 55.
Meaning and intending to convey a fee interest in the abovedescnbed parcel as
per Order of Penobscot County Probate Court, dated December 16, 1997.
Any and all other rights, easements, privileges and appurtenances belonging to the
granted estate are hereby conveyed.
