The City Council passed Resolve 99-268 on July 36, 1999 authorizing City staff to
enter negotiations with the Penobscot Comfy Commissioners for the potential sale o
lease of 6 Central Street to the County for its, and related, uses. The staff was
directed to negotiate exclusively with the Penobecot County Commissioners for the sale
r lease of the property until the City Council meeting on December 29, 1999. This
Resolve will give the County additional time, until March 31, 1999, to perform an
analysis of the potential uses that may be accommodated at 6 Central Street and to
pursue actions necessary

the City. During this time, the City may continue to pursue and enter lease
agreements for space within the building

Former Grant Building, 6 Cental Street
WHEREAS, the City has acquired title to the former W. T. Gram building at 6 Cental Street to
facilitate development and reuse of the long vacant and unutilized building In the core of the
Bangor Center Revitalization Area; and
WHEREAS, the County of Penobscot, with County offices and related uses located
adjacent to 6 Central StreM, foresees the future need for additional building space to
accommodate its needs and the needs of services related to the County of Penobscot; and
WHEREAS, by passage of Council Resolve 99-268 on July 26, 1999 the City
directed City staff to negotiate exclusively until December 27, 1999 with the Commissioners of
the County of Penobscot for the possible sale or lease of 6 Central Street to the County of
Penobscot and
WHEREAS, additional time is needed for the County of Penobscot to perform an
analysis of the potential uses that may be accommodated at 6 Central Street and to pursue
actions necessary for the County to enter a lease or purchase agreement with the City of
Bangor; and
WHEREAS, potential use of the property by the County of Penobscot conforms to
the City of Bangor's goals for redevelopment of the property;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE R RESOLVED BY THE CRY COUNCIL
OF THE CRY OF BANGOR THAT the City Manager, City Solicitor and Director of Community &
Economic Development are hereby, authorized to continue negotiations with the
Commissioners of the County of Penobscot for the possible sale or lease of 6 Central Street to
the County of Penobscot; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT until March 31, 2000 the City of Bangor will negotiate
exclusively with the Commissioners of the County of Penobscot far the sale or lease of 6
Cental Street for future consideration by the City Council, prevkled, however, the City of
Bangor may continue to pursue and enter lease agreements for space within the building.
