Item/Subject: Order, Authorizing the City Manager to apply for $26,148 in Grant Funds as
Part of the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program, which will be shared with the Penobscot
County Sheriff's Department.

Commentary:
The Penobscot County Sheriffs Department and the Bangor Police Department have received
notification that $26,148 is available through the Justice Assistance - Edward Byrne Memorial
Gram Program. The purpose of the Justice Assistance Grant is to enhance the capabilities of law
enforcementthrough specialized training and/or equipment Under the terms of the grant, the
Bangor Police Department will receive $522.96 for administrabon of the grant with the
remaining $25,625.04 to be divided evenly between Penobscot County and the City of Bangor.
The Bangor Police Department intends to use the $13,335.48 to provide law enforcement
training to its employees and for law enforcement related equipment. There is no match
required.

Part Of the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program to be shared with the Penobscot
County Sheriffs Department
By the City CoUW1 of the City of Bangor,
ORDERED, That the City Manager be authorized to apply for $26,148 in funds
from the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program, of which $13,335.48 will be used by the
Bangor Police Department for employee training, and $12,812.52 will be awarded to the
Penobscot County Sheriffs Department as required by the grant.
