Commentary: If approved, this order will authorize the Police Department to apply for
up to $5,000 from The State of Maine Bureau of Highway Safety to assist with OUI
enforcement efforts. The purpose of the grant is to initiate as many roadblocl s and/or
special patrols as possible for OUI violations. The amount of funds available is $5000.
The grant funds are available to provide overtime reimbursement as a means to
increase enforcement efforts. Grant funds will be distributed to the City as
reimbursement for expenses is requested.

RE: Bareaa of Highway Safely OUT Grant
The Stare of Maine Bureau of Highway Safety has grant fonds available to assist local
and state law enforcement agencies with their OUI enforcement efforts. The OUI
enforcement grant provides funding for overtime incurred while officers conduct
roadblocks, special patrols or both during the 2011 High Visibility Impaired Driving
Enforcement program. The purpose of the goods is to generate as many saps and mrerts
as possible for OUI. The Police Department would like to apply for up to $5,000 to

deadline for application is June 10, 2011.
